How we source, structure, and maintain the accuracy of place information across the Placetra platform.
Every place page on Placetra is built from a structured set of data fields, organized into factual data and enriched content.
Business name, address, phone number, website, operating hours, category, price range, geographic coordinates, and review aggregations. These come from public data sources and are verified against multiple references.
Place summaries, amenity categorization, "best for" recommendations, review insights, and experience descriptions. These are generated by AI models based on the factual data and labeled accordingly.
We combine multiple public sources to build a comprehensive, accurate picture of each place.
Primary source for addresses, coordinates, operating hours, phone numbers, and basic business details. Data is refreshed periodically to reflect changes.
Supplementary data from public business registries, chamber of commerce databases, and industry-specific directories to verify and enrich listings.
Aggregated review scores and counts from public review platforms. We display aggregate metrics (average rating, total count) — not individual reviews from external sources.
Verified business owners can update their own information, providing the most authoritative data source. Owner-submitted data takes priority over other sources.
Users can report incorrect information through our data correction process. All community submissions are verified before being applied.
Factual data points (address, hours, phone) are cross-referenced against multiple sources. Conflicting information is flagged for manual review. When sources disagree, we prioritize the most recent and authoritative source — with verified owner data always taking precedence.
Listing data is periodically refreshed from source APIs. The refresh frequency depends on the type of data: core business details are checked more frequently than supplementary information like amenity lists.
We acknowledge that no aggregated dataset is perfect. Operating hours may change without notice, businesses may close, and new places may not yet be indexed. We encourage users to verify critical details directly with the business, especially for time-sensitive decisions.
When errors are reported — by users, owners, or detected automatically — they enter a correction pipeline with verification, update, and confirmation stages. Most corrections are resolved within 24–48 hours.
AI enhances how we present data — it doesn't replace the data itself.
Generates readable summaries from structured data. Categorizes amenities into consistent labels. Creates "best for" recommendations based on features and reviews. Extracts themes from review collections.
Fabricate facts, reviews, or ratings. Invent business details not present in source data. Make subjective quality judgments without data basis. Replace owner-submitted information.
"Every AI-generated sentence on Placetra is grounded in verified data. We don't invent — we organize, summarize, and present what's already known."
We take data accuracy seriously. If you've found incorrect information on any place page, let us know and we'll fix it.
